IT'S TIME TO GET "FOOTLOOSE!""

FOOTLOOSE: AUDITION INFORMATION

POSTING DATE: JUN 27, 2026

SHOW: FOOTLOOSE

SYNOPSIS: FOOTLOOSE is a high-energy dance musical adapted from the iconic 1984 film. It follows Ren McCormack, a teenage boy from Chicago who moves to a conservative, small town where dancing and rock music have been outlawed by the local minister. The musical traces Ren’s journey as he rallies his fellow teenagers, challenges the town's restrictive laws, and inadvertently helps the community heal from a tragic accident. To the rockin' rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score, augmented with new dynamic songs, FOOTLOOSE celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind.

DIRECTOR NOTES: FOOTLOOSE is a wildly fun, rock-n-roll dance musical comedy that has triple threat requirements for the teens (young adult performers). Teens: lead actors and ensemble with exceptionally strong musical theatre pop vocals, character development, dance skills PLUS a keen sense of comedic timing. Adults: strong traditional musical theatre singers and actors with a fantastic sense of stage presence and humor. The characters are played sincere and bring an immediate sense of traditionalism and strict moral code to their world of the mid-western American town of Bomont. The choreography of the show is advanced (teens) and designed around each individual song. Trained dancers are preferred but not necessary. Check out the original 1984 “Footloose” movie on Apple TV or Amazon Prime (rental fees may apply).
